For those of you who need to remote into machines that are not on your corporate LAN, or for you admin's that have struggled with the software version of this product in the past.....the new appliance is shipping next week!

The first of many offerings with parent company Avocent  - this new appliance comes ready to pop in your rack and go!

If your not familiar with this technology and missed Interchange this year - Management Gateway can manage devices outside the local network without punching holes in the network firewall.  Basically it acts as a meeting place where the core console and managed devices are linked through their Internet connection, even if behind firewalls or if using a proxy to access the Internet.  Using a secure SSL tunnel, the Management Gateway appliance continuously routes bi-directional data between the two computers as long as they are connected.  The SSL data is not decrypted at the Management Gateway, eliminating any holes in the protocol during the data communication process.

The actual appliance retails for $3,000.00 so you guys know you will get it a bit cheaper than that. (Especially if your nice!)  A PMA is offered as well on the product.  And my understanding is the hardware warranty is for 2 years....

More details to come on this when the appliance ships this week - but what a great idea for a Christmas present for the LANDesk admin who has everything!
