DNS Vulnerability Could Allow Spoofing

Earlier this week, Microsoft released a patch to repair a significant vulnerability in the Windows Domain Name System (DNS). The flaw impacts every computer that connects to the Internet and opens the door for malicious hackers to conduct “cache poisoning attacks” where legitimate websites are impersonated in order to gain access to proprietary data.
The seriousness of the vulnerability was emphasized by the US Computer Emergency Readiness Team (CERT), a joint government-private sector security organization, which issued a warning in concert with the Microsoft release.
Due to the magnitude of the vulnerability, LANDesk is contacting its LANDesk® Security Suite and LANDesk® Patch Manager customers to ensure they are aware of the threat. IT Administrators will find the patch ready for deployment in their LANDesk® Management Suite console.
