LANDesk Software SP2 - LaunchPad

With the release of SP2 for v8.8 which is due out the first week of September, we wanted to point out a new feature that will be in this release:

LANDesk LaunchPad- takes advantage of a market that is shifting away from Novell products.  Many ZENworks customers are seeking alternative solutions but maintain an addiction to one of ZENworks’ key features – the Novell Application Launcher (NAL).  With the LaunchPad, prospective customers will have a smooth migration to LANDesk technologies.

In addition to converting ZENworks customers, the LaunchPad introduces application management to LANDesk’s current customer base.

 Centralized Application Control

* Administrators deliver applications (physical & virtual) without manually modifying installations

* Administrators distribute the right shortcuts/software to the right users/groups

* End users enjoy a centralized location for application installs and execution – no need to search for icons and links

* End users only see applications configured for their use

 Just-in-Time Applications

* Administrators can configure software and publish application icons to users without installation

* Applications install the first time a user clicks on the icon

 Process Driven Deployment

* Administrators can configure software that requires an approval to install

* LANDesk Process Manager, provided for FREE with the LaunchPad, gathers the correct approvals, conducts audits and delivers the software package

 Other Information

* Application types supported include:  Packages, Executables, Web URLs, LANDesk Processes

* Applications can be configured to install and run from the LaunchPad window, desktop, or Start Menu

We will update you as we hear more on SP2, and as always if you have questions on SP2 or other LANDesk questions email me at info@ldms.com.

Have a great afternoon!

-Susie
